High End Luxury Sports Sedan I Would Not Mind Having As A Ride | Plus, The Fisker Karma

Updated on September 24, 2014

Blame It On Justin Bieber & His Fisker Karma

Just in case you're wondering how in the world I ended up writing about the Fisker Karma Eco-Sport 4 Door Sedan, the Porsche Panamera, and the Aston Martin Rapide Luxury Sedan. Let me make this clear, I love cars, and especially, luxury cars. My fascination with them however, hasn't really gone beyond car shows. One car show I saw when I lived in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and another one that I attended at nearby Air Force Base hear in Georgia.

If you know me though, sport cars for me are a slight deviation from my usual love of SUV's. Why? Because, I'm a short petite size lady and I kind of like vehicles that give me a little lift, call it 'a boost', if you may. Cars that make me feel like I'm up there, while I'm driving. SUV's and trucks does that for me.

Now back to the luxury sports cars. I couldn't help but fall in love with a particular high-end sport sedan that recently made the news in a high speed citation. The car in question is the new ride of the one and only, Justin Bieber! Don't get the wrong idea, I only know this guy because my 14 year old daughter and 6 (almost 7) year old son talk about the guy like he is some pop star. "Whatever"!

Apparently, the Pop Star, Justin Bieber was spotted driving at over 80 mile per hour on a California Highway in this car. It was reported that the only reason he was driving over the speed limit was because he had gnats of paparazzi on his tail.

Anyway, there was all this buzz about the car that looked like a 'space ship', so I went searching for the car. Well, let's just say, it was love at 'Bing' sight for me. And I decided then that maybe luxury cars are not that bad. So, now I think there are some cars, luxury cars I wouldn't mind having as a ride.

Three luxury cars in particular caught my attention. The truth? I wouldn't mind taking them for a ride, that is, in a good way, if you know what I mean. Here are the three:

2012 Fisker Karma Eco-Sport 4 Door Sedan

The 2012 Fisker Karma is a large four-door luxury sedan. The ultra high-end hybrid sports sedan ride of the stars, the very rich, and, did I mention us, the ones-on-the-way-to-richness. The Fisker Karma Sports Sedan is the luxury car that Justin Bieber was driving when cited by the police. His, was reportedly, coated in Chrome.

This is the car for anyone who wants to get the attention of the world. Leonardo DiCaprio (I think he is supposed to be some kind of actor or something), and Taylor Lautner are also said to own one. The luxury sports car's design and eco-friendly technology of the Fisker Karma definitely makes it a very appealing car to the not-so-rich, the rich and famous.

At first glance, some say the Fisker Karma has a resemblance to the BMW up front, and a Corvette from the side. If you ask me, I think it looks like a shark that's about to launch on its prey from the front view.

The Fisker Karma Power & Performance

The 2012 Fisker Karma is a plug-in hybrid and can be driven in pure electric mode or a combination of electric and/or gas mode. In electric mode the 2012 Fisker Karma can be propelled for an estimated average of 32 miles. At this point the gas, which is stored 2.0 liter four-cylinder gasoline engine takes over, extending range by about another 250 miles. The 2012 Fisker Karma Sedan can hit a top speed of 125 mph and has the ability to sprint to 60 mph in six seconds.

Features & Gadgets

The Fisker Karma is equipped with all the latest gadgets and technology; ranging from xenon headlights, key-less ignition/entry, rear parking sensors, heated mirrors, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, to a solar panel roof that generates power for the operation of the vehicle. It has dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, and a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel.

The front seats of the Fisker Karma are powered six ways, with heat technology for both the front and rear seats. Its interior is covered in premium leatherette upholstery. It also has a trip computer, Blue-tooth, and an eight-speaker sound system.

With a price tag of over $100,000.00, I think this car is under-priced, but that's just my opinion. The Fisker Karma is also available in the Eco-standard and Eco-Chic Models, all just a little over a 100 Grand. One thing's for sure, the car is gorgeous! I would love to see this car headlights in one of these. Dream, dream, dream!

2012 Aston Martin Rapide Luxury Sedan

The 2012 Aston Martin Rapide Luxury Sedan is another car I wouldn't mind having. This is also a four-door four passenger sports car. In comparison, it is not nearly as attractive as the Fisker Karma. In fact, I will rate this car a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10, only because I think the design and craftsmanship could have been more green and environmental-friendly than it is.

One cool feature of the 2012 Aston Martin Rapide Luxury Sedan that I absolutely love is the fact that you can have a wristwatch transponder that replaces the remote key. This James Bond-inspired accessory is pricey, but worth it. Another feature of this car that I like is the numerous interior trim types and leather hues options available for this car. That gives a lady lots of colors to play around with.

The 2012 Aston Martin Rapide Luxury Sedan has other standard features, such as, high-end sound systems, a navigation system, front and rear parking sensors, power front seats with memory functions, heated front and rear seats (this is a great feature for those cold winter days when you just need to feel the heat), front and rear automatic climate control, glass switchgear, a rear-seat entertainment system, a six-piece custom-fit luggage set that matches the interior leather, and many other features. All these, makes the 2012 Aston Martin Rapide Luxury Sedan a car worth having. But, at a price tag of over $200,000, is it too pricey?

2012 Porsche Panamera S Hybrid Sedan

The 2012 Porsche Panamera S Hybrid Sedan caught my eye as I was researching the Fisker Karma. It has a similar body shape and sporty driving dynamics as the Fisker Karma, but not as environmental friendly or green, and certainly not as gorgeous as my Fisker Karma (calling those things that are not as though they were..).

The 2012 Porsche Panamera is offered in six other trim levels: base, 4, S Hybrid, S, 4S, Turbo and Turbo S. This four-passenger, four-door sedan come with some notable standard features which includes; dual-zone automatic climate control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, automatic xenon headlights, rear parking sensors, a sunroof, driver memory functions, a cooled glove box, heated front seats, eight-way power front seats, and leather upholstery. There's also a hard-drive-based navigation system and an 11-speaker sound system with a USB/iPod interface and an auxiliary audio jack.

Unlike these other trim levels, the Panamera S Hybrid is not equipped with the xenon headlights and parking sensors. Plus, instead of automatic climate control, it has conventional air-conditioning.

One notable feature on all Panameras is an auto start/stop function (something normally associated only with hybrid vehicles) that helps to reduce fuel consumption by shutting off the engine whenever the car comes to a stop and then automatically restarting it when you're ready to go again.

Other Luxury Cars To Consider

There are other luxury cars hybrids and non-hybrids that I came across that are worth considering. If you're in the market for chic, one-of-a-kind sports sedan, you might want to take a look at these:

  • 2012 Jaguar XJ
  • Mercedes-Benz S-Class
  • 2012 Audi A8 (this car is beautiful)
  • Lamborghini Aventador (that is, if you're in the business of promoting a macho image, then this is the car for you). For me, the grass-hopper like architecture of this car is a turn-off.

These are cars that stands out among the group of luxury cars. Not only do they deliver luxury, their quality of performance is uncompromised.
