Canine Fashion | Dressed Up Puppies In Tutus
Talk about canine fashion, I thought I've seen it all! I love it when dogs and puppies get all dressed up, especially if it is for the weather. We all know they sometimes need our help to help them keep warm. So, it's not uncommon to see our canine friends dressed up in those cute little doggy outfits. What I didn't expect to see is this new trend of dogs in tutus.
Yes, you heard right! Tutus are no longer just for little girls playing dress-up. The new trend is catching on. Dogs wearing tutus in addition to the collars and leashes. And I'm not talking about Halloween costumes.
Tutus are fast becoming the new doggy wear. Dog owners have somehow concluded that the princess dream is not only limited to us humans. Even dogs, man's best friends, do sometimes dream of being a princess.
So don't be surprised to see a lot of your neighborhood poodles and other dog breeds out this summer in their rainbow color tutus, running around in the neighborhood park.
What Does A Dog Tutu Look Like?
At first glance a dog's tutu looks very much like those worn by little girls and ballerinas. But a closer look reveals a slight difference. The dog tutus have about a 4" gap, like an opening, under the belly to prevent soiling. This gap on the tutu can be made larger, or smaller by simply sliding it to the desired size.
Some dog tutus come attached to the doggy outfit like the one in the image to the right. These are usually the ones with the belly gap. The basic tutus are not sewn into the doggy outfit. They are stand-alone tutus that are simply tightened around the tummy.

What Are Dog Tutus Made Of?
Like the little girls and ballerina tutus, dog tutus are made of tulle; a lightweight, very fine netting fabric. Tulle is a fabric commonly used for wedding gowns, prom gowns and veils. And just as with the tutus for little girls, dog tutus can sometime come with or without embellishments.
Dog tutus also come in different colors and fabric designs. So, your canine friend can be dressed up in any color outfit he or she is sure to love. You can even match her up to go with your own outfits.
Where To Find Dog Tutus
Dogs tutus can be found at most stores that cater to pets. So, be sure to check them out at your local pet shop and everywhere that cater to pets fashion.
There are also some online stores that cater specifically to your pets fashion sense. Some of these stores specializes in custom tutus that you can order for your special friend. A list of stores that carry dog tutus are provided to the right of this hub.
Would You Dress Up Your Dog In Tutus?
Hey, there's no harm trying, right? Though, your canine friend may not like wearing the tutu at first try, but just like the leashes and the collars, she probably won't mind once he/she tries it on. And, if left to you, your canine friend probably won't have any choice once your mind is made up about it.
One thing is sure though, no matter the type or size of the dog, your canine friend will definitely look good in a tutu. Maybe, even better than you will.
Sophisticated Dogs Collars
Another fashion fad that's being promoted among dog owners are the fashionable Red Satin Bow-tie Collar. These are collars that are designed to be worn on special occasions.
So, the next time you're invited to a wedding, it is just fitting for your accompanying canine friend to follow the dress code. You may not fully dress him/her up in a full tuxedo, but these Red Satin Bow-tie Collars, though simple, are sophisticated enough to be a match for a tuxedo.
These bow-ties can be paired with any formal dog attire, or worn by itself. They have Velcro tabs and closures that makes them easily adjustable and interchangeable.
