Five Things Every Woman Should Carry In Her Handbag

You're all dressed up for that big day, thinking nothing could possible go wrong, but it did. Maybe, it's probably just one of those typical not-so-special day, but you still wouldn't want anything to ruin it for you, but before you know it, something has gone wrong. We've all been there.

Oops, You Broke It!

Well, we've all had one of those "what just happened" days. For some it may be that you were walking up the stairs somewhere, and suddenly your heels get caught in your skirt/pant. You look down, only to find a rip in your skirt/pant. What do you do? Or, maybe you missed a step, brushed your shoes against some sharp rough object and the leather is now riped or scratched up. It's happened to the best of us.

Here are few accidental, unexpected events that may require some quick fixes.

• A rip in the shirt/skirt/pant while at school or on the job.
• A scratch on your shoes
• Shoe soles separating from the shoe upper
• Broken eye-glasses frame
• A loose hem
• A broken shirt/skirt/pant button
• A broken zipper
• A broken bra strap (and the list goes on...)

These are unfortunate events, but if you've ever had any of these happened to you before, you probably know how it feels. It could be really embarrassing to say the least. So, here are 'Five Things Every Woman Need To Carry In Her Purse' for those quick fixes:

The Double-Sided Clear Adhesive Tape is great for the temporary repair of hems and seams. The tape will cling to your fabric without leaving a residue. Place it between the hem of your garment for a quick bonding without the use of heat, needle and thread. It's that simple!

If you've ever accidentally pulled the thread that holds the hem of your pant or skirt, you know how embarrassing that can be to walk around with the hem of your skirt/pant dragging behind you. It's happened to me before. Then I started carrying this tape around in my purse.

So when a former colleague of mine had the same problem, pulled a hanging thread from her pant, and found herself walking around with one pant leg longer than the other, the tape came in very handy. I was able to glue her hem back together until she can get home and do a permanent fix. The truth is, it can hold for weeks and months at a time. So keep them handy for those hems and seams accidents.

I've never had the heel of my shoe come off before, but I've seen it happened to a lady who was standing in line at a buffet restaurant. She took one step forward, and I heard the snap.

I have however, had to use crazy glue and glue gun for some accidental fixes. Like when my glasses frame got broken, and when the sole of my boot got separated from the boot after walking through a flooded parking lot. It took a whole glue stick to do the job, but it got it done. Boy, was I glad!

You may be thinking that glue gun is a little too bulky to be carried around. But there are mini-glue guns that'll fit right into your cosmetic bag. Just make sure you carry along the glue stick too. There are many restaurants and public building that will let you use the electric outlet to heat it up so you can use it.

So get yourself a Glue Gun (don't forget the glue stick), or Crazy Glue. You never know when or where you'll need it. But when you do get to use it, you'll definitely be glad you got one.

Permanent markers do have many uses. You can use it to label your items, such as, clothes and books for easy identification. What you probably didn't know, is that they also come in handy for when your have a minor bruise on your leather shoes, bags, or jacket.

Yes, you can use permanent markers to cover-up those minor peel/bruise that can occur from wear-and-tear or accidental bruising of your shoes and other leather accessories. Bear in mind that they only work best on black, dark brown, and red leather as other colors may present some inconsistencies in color shades.

All you need is the right color of permanent maker, and the problem is taken care of. If your bruised shoe heel is sort of hanging, you can try gluing it down first, and then use the permanent marker to camouflage the glued area.

I'm yet to meet a woman who hasn't had a need for safety pins. Whether it's using it to hold together an over-sized shirt/pant waist after losing some pounds, for those quick fixes like to replace a broken button on a blouse or pant, safety pins just never seem to go out of style.

I remember a time when the pull-tab of my skirt zipper got broken. I couldn't pull the zipper up, and so I couldn't zip-up my skirt. It was a good thing I had a small safety pin somewhere in my purse. I found and slipped the safety-pin through the crown (tab holder) of my zipper, and I was able to pull my zipper up.

If I didn't have the safety-pin,I would have had to walk out of that public restroom holding my skirt up with both of my hands. And because you never know when you're going to loose a button, or snap the pull-tab off your skirt or pant zipper, you need to carry a few mini safety-pins with you in your purse. They might just come-in handy one of these days, either for you or for someone you know.

This is the last but not least of the five things every woman should carry in her purse. Sewing needle and thread just seem to fix everything. When you have a ripped skirt, blouse or pants, when a button come loose, or when the strap of your bra snaps (weird things do happens) and need to be sewn back, a needle and thread does the job well. They the perfect pair for those rips that may require more that being gluing together.

The next time you pick up your purse and head for the door, remember to take with these purse essentials . Here's the list again:

You may also include other necessities like, bandages; scissors; and rubbing alcohol sachets. Some stores may carry a mini-emergency sewing kit that includes safety-pins, scissors, and/or glue.

Rips do happen, but don't let it find you unprepared!
