This hub is for all of you on hubpages who have been pouring your hearts into your writing and are wondering if you should quit or continue. Some of you have asked if it is possible to make any sort of money writing here on Hubpages. My answer, Yes It Is!

First, if you're new on hubpages, there are a few things you need to look into if your aim is to make money here on this platform. Check out this page for some tips on making money on hubpages.

When I first started writing, I did not think that I could make any sensible income writing on hub-pages. Even though what I've made still doesn't compare to what I thought I could make, yet, I'm hopeful.

For a while there I thought maybe I needed to quit doing this, because for one, I wasn't getting a lot of traffic. There were days where I only got a couple of views on all my hubs. I did everything I know to do at the time. I joined many social media and networking sites, posted my hub links here and there. Some brought traffic, some didn't.

Well, I have been writing here on hubpages for over a year now, and yes, I finally got my first pay-out. Yes, I did! And you can too. A whooping.... Well, I'll let you see for yourself.

Many Thanks To Fellow Hubber Friends & Followers!

But I've been encourage by a lot of you, my followers, leaving insightful and encouraging words about my writing. My salute to all of you. You've been great friends. THANK YOU! :)

Just as I've been encouraged and cheered on, I will like to encourage a lot of our new hubbers to keep writing. Write good and quality hubs. Write about your own experiences. Think like a buyer. Ask yourself, 'what are people out there looking for', 'what are they searching for'. That has helped me a lot in deciding what to write about.

In writing, be clear, be concise, and most of all, be truthful. Don't make up stuff. Let your writing come from your heart, and in no time you'll attract your audience. Talking about audience, let me share with you a few things that I do to increase traffic to my hubs.

How To Increase Traffic To Your Hub/Site

These tips I'm about to share with you have already been shared by some Hubber's here on hub pages, so it didn't originate from me. In fact, I got some of them by reading hubs by some great writers and SEO experts on web traffic. I hope they'll work for you too.

Write Quality Content

Writing quality content cannot be over-emphasized. It beats everything else you'll read on this page. When you write what people want to read about, you will be found out, and I mean that in a good way. Good contents hubs are those hubs that never go out of style or out of season. So keep those coming, and sooner or later you'll get the traffic.

Keep Editing and Updating Your Hub's Content

Once in a while I'll pull up a hub and just add something to it that I didn't know before, or I'll re-format some of the headings and/or sub-headings. I may also add a video or image. What usually follows is a rise in traffic to that hub.

When you write a hub, chances are certain information on there will, or have changed over time and will need to be updated. For example, hubs on latest gadgets usually need to be constantly updated to reflect new ones. So, edit and update your hubs frequently, and you may just get more traffic that way.

Attracting Traffic from Google

One of the ways to increase traffic to your hub as I have seen in the past months is to use the Google Website Owner - Submit Your Site. To use this option you have to sign-up for this Google service.

One thing you don't want to do is to submit your individual hub URL. I tried that from someone's advice and it was like I got kicked out and my views went from the hundreds to barely 30/day.

Submit your hubpages URL, the one on your profile page, example, http://your hubpages alias/name.hubpages.com/, at this google link http://www.google.com/submityourcontent/website-owner/# , then sit back a watch your views skyrocket. And as you know the more views, the more money.

Warning:

This only works if you need the money. :)

Use of Back-links To Pull Your Audience

Having a website that gets a lot of traffic helps a lot on this one. I write on products featured on my site and link back and forth from my hub to the site and vice versa. Back-links also work between your hubs, your blog, and other blogs.

If you choose to do this with blogs owned by other writers, make sure you're linking to sites and blogs that have similar contents as yours. You can also use social media sites to promote your hubs. Social medias I use are This Next, Delicious, Facebook, and, I tweet a lot.

Use of Bookmarking Sites To Increase Your Hub Traffic

Bookmarking sites are a great way to get traffic to your site or hub. Traffice generated by this method is not a lot, but it helps. Bookmarking sites, such as, IMAutomator, Bookmark4You, Dropjack, SheToldMe and others, will help to schedule and submit your hub's url to other site and drive traffic to your hubs.

Be aware that some of them do charge somewhere between $2.99/month or more for these service. The down side to this option is the going back and forth to re-submit to these sites each time you add new content.

Other ways to pull traffic to your hub is by

  • Sharing Hubs With Other Hubers - You can share your hubs and/or hubs by other writers. this tends to attract traffic to your hubs and that of the ones you're sharing. Please, do exercise caution on this one so as not to earn the wrath of other hubbers (your followers), whose home page may be flooded with hubs being shared here and there.
  • Using of the Title Tuner - This option is available when you click the 'my accounts' sub-menu option in the black/green navigation pane. Use it to fine tune you titles to the ones recommended or just simply change it to reflect the search keywords highlighted.
  • You can also increase traffic to your hub through leaving insightful comments on others' hubs as this exposes you to other writers who may then share your hubs locally or outside hubpages.

All of these tips and more you can read about in a previous hub I wrote. They've all worked.

Do you love to write? Do you have a passion for sharing with others what you know? You can do that by signing up right here on hubpages. And guess what? You'll make some money doing it too. Writing, that is.
